As part of his efforts in ensuring his administration conforms with the rules of safety due to the commercialization nature of his area, the Council Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu has declared his intention to build an high-tech Somolu Fire Station.
According to the Canada trained business man, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu said the recent fire incidents within Somolu where Olaleye and Alade markets were engulfed by inferno would have been under swift control assuming Somolu had its own Fire Station.
Salawu re-emphasized that Somolu is getting transformed into an ICT hub, despite the fact that the area is still very well known as a commercial hub of printing for decades. He said his administration is bent on facing the reality of providing amenities needed for tax payers to benefit from a business hub in a megacity.
Roads, electricity, security and safety infrastructures are all part of the amenities the multiple awards winning Chairman said his administration is working more on. He said the two fire fighter trucks will be working with an ambulance to respond to emergency situations within Somolu environs to safe lives and properties.
The high-tech international standard firefighter trucks are fully equipped with multiple channels water hoses, power generating set to pump hot water and searchlight engines.
Printing companies, filling stations, gas plants, shopping malls, corporate offices and residents of Somolu will breath a breath of relief for safety as the nearest fire service stations close to Somolu are in Mushin (Ikorodu Road), UNILAG and Ojuelegba
