The Segun Odunmbaku Campaign Organisation (SOCO) have frowned and outrightly condemned the attack on the political personage of Odunmbaku’s Dynasty by few members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Ojodu area, Ikeja, Lagos.

SOCO made this known in a statement titled, ‘Media attack on a political personage and the Doyen of Odunmbaku Dynasty: The Antics of an Ungrateful followers’, on Friday.

Trek Africa Newspaper had exclusively reported that David Olusegun the son of Cardinal James Odunmbaku, popularly known as Baba Eto on Saturday, March 6, declared his ambition to contest for the Chairmanship seat of Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in the forthcoming Lagos State local government election slated for later this year.

While frowning at the attack on Odunmbaku Dynasty, the Director-General of SOCO, Olaniyan Bode, described it as ‘an antics of ungrateful followers’.

The statement read in part “We at Segun Odunmbaku Campaign Organization (SOCO) are aware of the recent uncomplimentary media attacks by some members of the All Progressives Congress party in Ojodu, on the person of Cardinal Omolaja James Odunmbaku, the biological father of our choice candidate as Chairman of Ojodu LCDA.”

“While we recognise the rights of everyone to voice their opinion irrespective of how repugnant, abhorrent, vile and objectionable it may be, it says a whole lot about the personality, attitudes, and upbringing of the person.”

“This we believe is an attempt to divert the attention of the public and party leaders from the wide acceptance our popular candidate have so far enjoyed, also to further hoodwink the unsuspecting public that has shown their love and unrelenting support for our candidate as seen at the venue of the recent declaration of interest by Hon. David Olusegun Odunmbaku (incumbent SLG, Ojodu LCDA) on Saturday, 6th March 2021.”

“We are in no way ready to join issues with these unscrupulous elements unleashed on us to perpetrate such ill-advised method of playing politics of cheap propaganda and campaign of calumny considered a meme in an attempt to undermine the person of our highly esteemed Cardinal James Omolaja Odunmbaku; who is currently an illustrious member of the Governor’s Advisory Council of Lagos State as deemed fit by our great party and supreme leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu (Jagaban).”

“Our supreme leader and incoming President “Jagaban” (By God’s grace) in his wisdom and ingenuity has chosen to compensate loyalty, hard work, honesty and servitude to the party tenets, manifesto and goals – which Cardinal James Odunmbaku, the father and mentor of our candidate have demonstrated since he’s being a follower to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu from time immemorial to date – with the position of GAC which certainly can only be gotten based on merit and credibility.”

“When Ikeja politics was at the basics, Cardinal Odunmbaku’s role in ensuring public acceptability of the party and her candidate is quite immeasurable and he (Baba Eto) has by so doing made Council Chairmen, Members House of Assembly and Member House of Representatives, serving Senators and Governors _and by His grace Nigeria’s next President Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.”

“A Yoruba adage says that “ile to ntooro, omo ale ibe ni ko tii dagba” Ojodu is in great crisis because the bastards in our midst has grown in power and money and like the biblical Absalom (Arole), that revolted against David, he will eventually hang himself by his shenanigans”

“On the other hand, to have a group of ungrateful politicians from Ojodu LCDA or anywhere else to have chosen to cast aspersions on the image of this great personality is a display of ‘political hatred’ and insubordination to the party hierarchy.”

“We believe that his accumulated experiences as Secretary to Local Government in Ojodu Local Council will in no little measure guard his thought process and decision-making pattern of progressive and development-focused policies for improving Ojodu people beyond 2021.”

SOCO maintained that the organisation is interested in engaging individuals or group in an issue-based campaign rather than adopting a campaign of calumny strategy.
