SANWO-OLU, TAMBUWAL, OKOWA GO HEAD-TO-HEAD FOR NCS DIGITAL GOVERNOR OF THE YEAR AWARD

* Pantami, Adeduntan, Oloyede, others to be honored at 2020 National Information Technology Merit Awards
The annual National Information Technology Merit Awards organized by Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) is set to hold next Thursday 26th November 2020 to reward deserving members of the organization and the society at large.
It should be noted that the NCS is the umbrella association of IT professionals, interest groups and stakeholders in Nigeria’s tech sector
jointly working towards advancing and accelerating IT development in Nigeria
This assertion was made by the President of the organization, Prof. Adesina Sodiya FNCS at a press conference with Oki Samson of Trek Africa Newspaper and other Pressmen held at her National Secretariat in Otunba Jobi Fele Way, Alausa Ikeja. ‘In line with the advocacy efforts of NCS to achieve sustainable development, and promoting digital economy in Nigeria through Information Technology, NCS promotes excellence and significant impact. Annually the Nigeria Computer Society recognizes, celebrates and rewards outstanding excellence and exceptional contributions in the Information Technology field through the unique national platform NITMA provides.’
‘Our focus as a society is progress for the sector in particular and for the nation as a whole. As the acknowledged professional authority facilitating the development of an inclusive, globally competitive, prosperous and knowledge-based digital economy in Nigeria, NCS is committed to recognizing and rewarding outstanding hard work and excellence in accelerating IT development.’
Presence at the Press briefing are the Deputy President, Nigeria Computer Society, Dr. Muhammad Sirajo Aliyu FNCS, Chairman of Publicity, Events and Trade Services Committee, Mr. Olufemi Williams FNCS and the Executive Secretary, Mr. Iyiola Ayoola FNCS.
The categories of awards to be presented on the day are professional fellowships for NCS members who have become authorities in their fields, the NCS/Jim Ovia scholarship for university students, and the IT Gold Merit Award to be presented to Honorable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Pantami.
Others are honorary fellowship for personalities who have contributed to IT growth. Awardees are His Excellency, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State; His Excellency, Dr. Bello Mohammad Matawalle, the Executive Governor of Zamfara State; Dr. Adesola Kazeem Adeduntan, CEO First Bank of Nigeria Ltd and Subsidiaries; and Professor Ishaq Oloyede, Registrar Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
There are two categories with nominations. These are the Digital Governor of the Year award comprising Mr. Babajide Sanwolu, Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, and Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, the Executive Governors of Lagos, Sokoto, and Delta states respectively. The other is the IT Personality Year Award (also known as NCS President’s award) comprising Mr. Ayotunde Coker, CEO, Rack Centre; Mr. Niyi Toluwalope, CEO etranzact; and Mr. Bimbo Abioye MD/CEO Fintrak Ltd
The event will hold under strict observance of NCDC protocols and thus, attendance will be by invitation.
